1. I am called by my middle name, Lauren. My first name is Emily.
  2. I was born on November 15.
  3. I am the oldest of three girls.
  4. Both of my sisters live in North Carolina.
  5. When I was a baby, my mother called me Lolly (from School House Rock), and it caught on with family and friends - I answer to it today.
  6. I have moved to nine different states in seventeen years. (Tennessee-Texas-Mississippi-Arizona-Wyoming-Virginia-West Virginia-New Mexico-Maryland)
  7. I went to second grade in three different states.
  8. My mom homeschooled my sister and me for two years.
  9. People always thought I was older than I really was.
  10. My initials used to spell 'ELF', before I got married.
  11. I moved to Maryland (my current home) in January 1998, when I was a junior in high school.
  12. I saw my future husband on my first day of school in Maryland.
  13. The first time I talked to my future husband was on a school bus.
  14. We got to know each other better in U.S. History class.
  15. I am older than my husband by 41 days.
  16. I have 2 dogs named Jen and Bella.
  17. I have 2 cats named Rusty and Quincy.
  18. My family lived in Roswell, New Mexico before moving to the East Coast.
  19. I have a good memory, and my family often rely on me to remember people and places from the past.
  20. I am an ovo-lacto vegetarian.
  21. I made the decision to stop eating meat, including seafood, at age 14.
  22. My parents thought it was a phase, but supported me through the process.
  23. I decided to make the switch to vegetarianism for ethical and environmental reasons.
  24. I started college as an English major.
  25. ...switched to American Studies in my freshmen year.
  26. ...switched again to Ancient Studies and Archaeology, and I stuck with that.
  27. My focus was Near Eastern Archaeology (including Egypt, Israel, Syria and Lebanon).
  28. My minor was in Judaic Studies, particularly ancient/medieval Judaism.
  29. I studied abroad in Israel in 2000, after my sophomore year of college.
  30. I participated in an archaeological expedition at Tel Beth Shemesh.
  31. I toured the whole country: went swimming in the Dead Sea, went to the Western Wall, and to the Golan Heights.
  32. I learned many colloquial Hebrew and some Arabic phrases.
  33. I wanted to be an archaeologist.
  34. I realized that it would be a very hot and dirty profession... so I reconsidered. I do not like to be hot and dirty.
  35. I studied Greek for 3.5 years, Biblical Hebrew for 2 years, and modern Hebrew for 1 year.
  36. I got married on January 5th, 2002.
  37. I graduated from college in May 2002.
  38. We went to Florida for our honeymoon.
  39. I graduated Phi Beta Kappa.
  40. My favorite movies are often indie films, foreign-language, or documentaries.
  41. Some of the the TV shows that I have faithfully watched in recent years: Six Feet Under, Lost, 24, The Office (British and American), Carnivale, and Survivor.
  42. After graduating from college, I managed a bookstore for 1 year.
  43. I hated the long nights and the low pay, but I think it was a great lesson to work in retail.
  44. I left the bookstore to work in a library.
  45. I took a 2 year break between undergrad and grad school.
  46. I started graduate school in the Fall of 2004.
  47. Being a librarian was always a dream of mine, even when I was working in archaeology. The two are actually closely related.
  48. I completed my Masters in Library and Information Science (MLIS) in December 2006.
  49. I am trained as a librarian, and an archivist, and I feel comfortable in both settings.
  50. My husband and I work at the same institution.
  51. He works in IT, and I work in the Archives.
  52. Being an archivist is challenging and fun; I work with photographs, letters, manuscripts, artifacts, and artwork in my particular institution.
  53. I hope to work in a museum setting one day as a curator / researcher.
  54. I am politically progressive.
  55. I drive a small compact car (Toyota Echo) and it gets great mileage. My next car will be even more energy-efficient.
  56. I started knitting in November 2003.
  57. I always wanted to learn, so I finally signed up for a class at the craft store, Joann.
  58. After learning the basics in this one-hour class, I taught myself with books and practice, and blog reading.
  59. Knitting has sparked an interest in fashion and design.
  60. I want to write a book in the future, possibly about knitting and crafting.
  61. I started the LollyKnitting Around blog in July 2004.
  62. Blogging has introduced me to a wonderful community; I have made many friends through this medium.
  63. We have 8 fresh water aquariums in our house. This is my husband's hobby.
  64. We try to take one big vacation each year. Since we got married, we have been to Orlando, Florida, Boston, Massachusetts, Portland, Oregon, New Orleans, Lousiana, Oahu, Hawaii, and most recently to San Francisco/Napa Valley, California. We are planning to go to South America in Summer 2007.
  65. I have been to 41 of the 50 states in the U.S.A.
  66. I have lived in Maryland longer than any other state.
  67. I love to travel, and want to fill my passport with stamps.
  68. My husband and I are undecided about having children.
  69. We have two nieces and we love to spoil them.
  70. My favorite sport is hockey.
  71. My favorite hockey team is the Pittsburgh Penguins.
  72. I learned more about hockey from watching my husband play over the years we have been together.
  73. My husband and I plan to visit all of the NHL arenas in North America. So far, we have been to four: Washington Capitals, Tampa Bay Lightning, and Boston Bruins, and the New York Rangers.
